Taking the most logical approach as to what can and cannot be done to increase your search engine score and relevance during a search engine results pull.

There's really not a whole lot you can do to improve your score. Well, the first reason is because we don't know exactly the cause of what makes up the score and we will likely never know and since there is an infinite combination of what makes up the score, search engines might used different formulas rating systems each time they re-index the pages or sites. So far, we don't know even know that for sure, it is primarily all speculation.

We did some simple tests, by searching keywords and testing the search results. We believe that it is computerized once the data is added to the index so it must be quite consistent until they update or adjust their rating system.

Again, logically it is something they must do or not. Depends on how you look at it really. Is it fair that some web pages are ALWAYS on top search results for certain keywords? Is it a conspiracy that they buy those positions? Who knows, but as far as we can tell, it probably isn't or if it was ever discovered it would instantly destroy the credibility the search engines have with the netizens. Something that they have worked so hard to build, I'm sure they would not risk it all on a few key positions.

Well, we know a few ideas that might help. 1 is the # of back links to your web page. If this is NOT a key one for search engines, it will definitely bring you more traffic. Well that is the objective anyway. The only reason that people want TOP 10 or TOP 5 on SERPs is because that is where majority of people start as their entry point into the networld. Well, if back links or reciprocal links works, I suppose one can just focus on that. EVENTUALLY it will generate so much traffic you might not even care if you are on TOP 1o with SERP.

Ok, so that is one theory and probably a good one. If you do link exchanges with relevant or related category sites to help netizens bounce from one site to another why isn't this good enough? Actually it is!!! It can bring you plenty of traffic and make you really happy :) Well, why don't people just do that then? Well, like I said somehow people have to land on a page where your link is. Well, isn't that one way? Maybe you cannot get a SERP to land on your page directly and why does it have to be on the first click? Can it be a referral link? That is by the way a powerful form of advertising?

Well, in fact probably even stronger and the 1 thing I can say about that is Search Engines apparently disregard reciprocal links because it "Cuts" them out of the loop. They hate it, because there's absolutely no reason for people to do a loop back to a search engine page because there's nothing there but to start a search over again. Search engines absolutely hate reciprocal links. It creates a network within the network that they get cut out of completely and that is not good for their ratings. But IT does work!!! For your objective you should maintain activity in this regard because it will create a lot of traffic for your website.

Search engines crawl your site, they will look around, record your meta tags, snapshot the page contents to hopefully know what your site is about. They will also do a few other measurements while they are there. They will count how many links you have going out to external, the will try to count how many indexed pages they have that link back to you, compile some other figures, see who else you are linked to and see what their index score is, see who is linked back to you and see what their link score is and then with some hidden formula determine your index score.

This index score is the most important value. How they derive to this score is somewhat in your control, but how they compile it we have no control. So based on the keyword you search and the millions of search results they display the search results in order descending from the highest index score to the lowest. This has to be the way it is. If your score slips or someone gains on you, it is usually only be 1 or 2 positions that I have seen at any given time. Yes a whole bunch of pages can make a leap forward and push you down a few pages.
